Is it cool to live in Santa Monica?

Pano Tip

Santa Monica: Love to live there The problem most people have with Santa Monica is the exorbitant expense. The 90402 zip code is one of the most expensive in the United States, and even the smallest homes in the areas it encompasses are over a million dollars or an eye popping amount of rent.

As appealing as the centrality of the location, the neighborhood near the 3rd Street Prom would be my least favorite for living because there's so much construction going on there, and it's the most crowded and congested area. I'd consider all other areas to be cool, though. Ocean Park is really chilled out and lovely, and so are other residential areas a bit farther from the beach.

cool omar

-beautiful sunsets -some pretty fancy and not too expensive (and expensive) dining establishments -a short drive to Malibu -easy access to the 10 freeway from almost anywhere -very eclectic population (that can be good and bad) -lots of creative companies set their roots here -you can walk to most things if you live west of Lincoln -a particular live music venue called Harvelle's (I'm an owner of this establishment, so I'm biased) -there are kind of two sides to Santa Monica, north and south of Pico, both offer their own vibe. Main Street is south of Pico Blvd and it's got it's own thing, just like north of Pico has the downtown area with the 3rd street Promenade, and the new Santa Monica Place Mall...Wilshire, Montana, et al.
